Two parents founded Stanford University in 1891 as Leland Stanford Junior University. Leland Stanford was their teenaged son who succumbed to typhoid fever. Within the first 18 units of study, the Master’s candidate applies to customize their studies. Students submit a statement of objectives for their plan of study.
