One job title that you could hold with this degree is nuclear technician. With a median annual salary of $79,140, this is one of the highest-paying careers for graduates of associate degree programs.
In this career, you would work in nuclear research or energy production, assisting engineers and physicists. Part of the reason that this job pays so well is that it involves a high level of responsibility – you’d operate special equipment and monitor radiation levels in order to ensure the safety of everyone working in your facility.
In a bachelor’s degree program, you will typically spend about four years studying courses in your major to get a solid foundation for your future career. Along with your major’s classes, you will take a variety of general education courses.
And with a bachelor’s degree, you could be eligible to work as an aerospace engineer. In this role, you’d design technology that’s meant to be used in the atmosphere or in space – think missiles, airplanes, or satellites.
Not only would you get to work with all of the cool equipment in this job, you’d also be well compensated for your work. The median salary for aerospace engineers is $109,650 per year.
After you complete your bachelor’s degree, if you want to develop your expertise in a Science and Engineering specialization, a master’s degree could be the way to go. These programs generally take two to three years to complete, and will allow you to focus on a particular area of study.

Scientists and engineers who pursue doctoral degrees are able to enter several different career paths. They can go on to work in academia, teaching college courses, or they could do corporate research and development. The U.S. government also hires Ph.D. graduates to work in a variety of Science and Engineering initiatives.
Biochemists and biophysicists usually hold doctoral degrees, and they study biological processes like heredity and cell development. With a Ph.D. in this field, you might accept a position working for a college or university, a pharmaceutical company, or a consulting service.
