Entrepreneurship infuses and inspires every aspect of a business education at the University of Maine at Machias (UMM). Instead of having entrepreneurship as a concentration or major within a business degree program, UMM emphasizes professional skills and entrepreneurial talents in all of its business programs. At UMM students work toward a Bachelor of Science in Business and Entrepreneurial Studies (BSBES). Within this degree program, students may choose one of four concentrations—Accounting, Business Sustainability, Management, and Sport and Fitness Management—or create a self-designed concentration.
The program requires 120 credit hours for completion. Sixty of those hours are University Core courses. The BSBES degree then requires 36 hours of core business courses, 18 hours of a chosen concentration, and 6 hours of upper-level electives.
